A global community · In-person gatherings in the San Francisco Bay Area

Good neighboring,
together.

The Amita Network is a community of people around the world who are already doing good things — giving time, donating money, investing with intention — and who want to find each other.

In the normal flow of life, extraordinary things go unshared. A cause someone has championed quietly for years. An investment that’s changing lives halfway across the world. A volunteer project that needs one more committed person. The Amita Network creates the space to share those things — and to act on them, together.

We gather in person a few times a year in the Bay Area, and online for members wherever they are. We listen to each other. We get inspired. And sometimes, something sparks.

What we believe

We are a network drawn to a particular kind of wisdom: collaborative by instinct, capable of holding many things at once, oriented toward others — toward children, communities, the generation coming up behind us. The kind of thinking that asks not just “what do I gain?” but “what do we build?”

These values don’t belong exclusively to women. But the evidence keeps pointing in the same direction: if you want to know where to look for outsized impact, look at what happens when women and girls are resourced, supported, and trusted. That’s not a restriction. That’s a lens — and it’s the sharpest one we’ve found.

This network is not just for people with large budgets. It is for anyone who has more than enough of something — time, money, expertise, connection, care — and wants to put it to work. Ten dollars given with intention matters. So does an hour of mentorship, a board seat, an introduction, or simply showing up.
Why “Amita”
amita
In Latin, amita means aunt — the family member who shows up, who connects, who cares without condition. In Sanskrit it means boundless, infinite. In Hebrew, truth. We chose it because neighboring, at its best, is all three: showing up for each other, believing there’s no limit to what we can do together, and being honest about what the world needs.
How we gather

We come together in person in the Bay Area and online for members around the world. Each event has a loose theme — the real value is what happens in the conversation.

🍽
Bay Area · In person
Salon dinners & drinks
An evening where one or two members share something they’re passionate about. Low-key by design. Conversation follows naturally.
🥾
Bay Area · In person
Hikes & picnics
Some of the best conversations happen outside. A morning walk in Marin, a picnic in the hills above the Bay — no screens, no slides.
🌐
Global · Online
Webinars & conversations
When a member has something to teach — about impact investing, giving effectively, a cause they know deeply — we create a space for the whole global network to join.
🥂
Bay Area · In person
Informal meetups
Drinks, a casual evening, no structure. A chance to connect with members you haven’t met yet, or catch up with ones you have.
What members share

Members come from different worlds — business, philanthropy, medicine, education, the arts. What they share is a habit of generosity: with their time, their resources, or simply their attention. Nobody is here to impress anyone. Everyone is here to be useful.

How it works

The Amita Network is open to anyone who cares about doing more good. No fees, no committee, no minimum. Just sign up, show up, and share what you care about.

Our story

We bring together people who are giving, investing, volunteering, and advocating — and let the connections do what connections do. The name says it all: amita, the aunt who shows up, who connects, who cares without condition. Boundless in what we believe is possible. Honest about what the world needs.

Membership is global. Gatherings are rooted in the Bay Area, with webinars and online conversations for members wherever they are. There are no fees and no minimums. Anyone who has more than enough of something — time, money, expertise, care — and wants to put it to work belongs here.

Members

Every member of the Amita Network is doing something worth knowing about. Here’s a window into that — updated as members join and share what they’re working on.

Founder
Sam
Impact investor · Venture philanthropist

Sam has spent thirty years at the intersection of capital, enterprise, and impact — from structuring billion-dollar syndicated loans at Citibank London, to building the first Western economics program in post-Communist Prague, to growing Advance Global Capital’s impact portfolio to $175M while facilitating $9 billion in working capital to small businesses across 65 countries.

Through Xanh Impact, she works with family offices and institutional investors to design portfolios that generate market-rate returns and durable social outcomes. She serves on the boards of Advance Global Capital and MCE Social Capital, and founded the Amita Network because she kept meeting people doing extraordinary things quietly — and wanted to build a place where those things could find each other.
